Our 2026 equipment financing site audit found a discovery gap, not evidence of borrower approval rates: 419 page records existed, 342 content pages were published, only the home was observed as indexed in Google, no query ranked in Bing's top five, and no lead was recorded for the domain. These are publishing and search-system observations from the Mainline production database on August 17, 2026. They must not be interpreted as lender outcomes or market approval statistics.

Methodology
We queried the production database in read-only mode and saved dated CSV baselines before changing content. Page counts came from the domain's page records grouped by kind and status. Search observations came from the current search snapshot tables for Google and Bing. Crawler activity came from the crawler-request log for the 30 days ending on the extraction date. Citation counts came from simulated monitoring; lead counts came from the domain's lead records. Each source measures a different step and none substitutes for the others.
The baseline is reproducible from the files stored with this report. Search caches are snapshots and can change after a sync, which is why dated exports were saved immediately. The audit does not estimate application approval, financing cost, credit quality, lender behavior, or market share.
What the baseline can and cannot show
The data shows that a large corpus did not create broad observed indexation or conversion. It does not prove that page count caused the result. Thin or repetitive pages, weak hierarchy, insufficient authority, technical discovery, competition, and time can interact. The strongest actionable finding is that the site had hundreds of pages but no concentrated, fully interlinked commercial cluster around the queries already producing impressions.
Crawler requests demonstrate discovery by automated systems, but a request is not a human session. Simulated citations show whether monitored model responses included the domain, but they are not evidence of referral traffic or revenue. A lead is a downstream conversion record, but zero recorded leads may also reflect attribution or instrumentation limits. We therefore report the funnel as crawler request → simulated citation → lead without collapsing the steps.
Editorial intervention
The 2026 intervention replaces breadth with a 37-page registry organized around equipment financing, equipment leasing, and startup equipment financing. URLs with real impressions are protected. Only geo pages with no impression, lead, or observed indexation are candidates for automatic draft status. Every new or rewritten page uses primary sources, a direct answer, explicit limitations, and internal links to a defined hub.
Why page count was not treated as success
The inventory contained multiple forms of duplication: state-pattern pages, broad question pages, overlapping financing and leasing topics, and pages centered on named providers. Counting all records equally would overstate useful coverage. The intervention therefore uses a registry in which every URL has an explicit query or field evidence, a kind, a parent hub, a priority, and an ownership decision. Content outside that structure is not automatically deleted; it is evaluated against impressions, leads, indexation, and relevance before any status change.
This distinction matters because a page can have no click yet still carry a protected search impression, while another can have thousands of words and no measurable role. The baseline records both state and signals. It also keeps the home separate from article counts and treats the application route as a conversion surface rather than editorial content.
Search and AI channels are separate
Google coverage, Bing coverage, crawler requests, simulated citations, human sessions, and leads are different observations. A crawler can request a URL without indexing it. An index can contain a URL without ranking it. A simulated model response can cite a page without sending a visitor. A visitor can reach the site without completing a lead form. Reporting one step as another would create a false result.
The day-zero files therefore preserve query snapshots for both search engines, coverage by page kind, crawler providers for 30 days, citation rows, and lead rows. Future measurement should reuse the same definitions. If tracking logic changes, the change should be noted rather than silently comparing incompatible numbers.
Quality controls applied to the new registry
The planned pages avoid universal rate ranges, credit-score cutoffs, down-payment percentages, approval times, and named-creditor endorsements. Comparisons focus on structure, documents, total cash outlay, useful life, collateral, insurance, maintenance, tax and accounting review, and exit obligations. Primary sources establish program uses and tax rules; they do not support a promise that any applicant will qualify.
Each hub has at least eight supporting pages. The highest-cost commercial queries are handled as decision pages rather than informational footnotes. Questions with measured third-party citation demand become direct-answer pages. Verticals with dedicated network owners—such as construction, farming, restaurants, healthcare, trucking, and fabrication—remain outside this generic domain's registry.
Reproducibility limits
The search tables are operational caches, not permanent external records. Their values describe what the system stored at extraction time. The production database can also contain historical artifacts, renderer fields, and revisions that differ from the final HTML. For that reason, publication QA must check the served page, not only database columns, and the baseline archive includes the home HTML as observed before the content intervention.
The study is a single-domain operational audit and has no untreated control site. It cannot establish causal lift. The 30- and 60-day checkpoints can show change after the intervention, but seasonality, search-system updates, authority, and other network work may also contribute. Conclusions should remain descriptive unless a future experiment supplies a valid comparison.
Reading the intervention at 30 and 60 days
A useful follow-up begins with the protected baseline, not the latest dashboard total. For Google and Bing, compare the same 90-day query fields while noting that the first checkpoint overlaps the pre-publish period. Count indexed and non-indexed URLs by kind so a change in corpus size does not masquerade as a coverage improvement. Report new, altered, protected, and drafted URLs separately. A single high-ranking local page should not be averaged into a claim that the entire commercial cluster improved.
For the automated channel, compare crawler requests over matched windows and identify which paths were requested. Then compare simulated citations by prompt, keeping third-party citation demand visible. Finally, count attributable leads and landing pages without assuming that an unattributed lead came from AI or organic search. If zero remains zero, say so. If a lead appears, preserve the record but avoid generalizing from one event.
The most credible early success would be a sequence: new pages served correctly, sitemap discovery confirmed, more relevant URLs observed in Bing and Google, target queries gaining impressions, and then qualified visits or leads. Any break in the sequence points to a different next action. No discovery suggests a technical issue; discovery without indexation suggests quality or authority limits; indexation without impressions suggests intent or competition; impressions without conversion suggests the page and application path need review.
Governance and change log
The domain's autopilot was paused before the baseline and remains paused after the intervention. This prevents an automated generator from republishing drafts or changing the corpus during measurement. Re-enabling it requires a separate human decision. Every production phase uses a domain-scoped backup, explicit transaction, fresh-session verification, and a dated report. Search submission results are recorded as submitted, accepted, failed, or unavailable; none is labeled indexed until observation confirms it.
The registry, content files, SQL, media manifest, and validation outputs remain with the domain report. That archive allows a reviewer to trace each published URL to evidence, hierarchy, sources, and QA. It also provides a defined reversal path if a renderer, content, media, or discovery problem appears after publication.
How future measurements will be compared
At approximately 30 and 60 days, the same fields should be exported again. Comparison should separate indexed URLs, query impressions and clicks, Bing top-five presence, crawler activity, simulated citations, and leads. A rise in one step should not be presented as a rise in another. Search indexation can be observed after submission, but submission itself is not indexation confirmation.
